| Other Info | Do you want to get involved in research, but don’t know where to start? Do you want to attend a program that is geared toward community college students? Do you want to participate, but don’t know how to start? Then you should attend this meeting. We will be discussing the program, the application process, and meet students who participated in the program last years who share their experiences and insights with you. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The UC Davis Center for Biophotonics Science and Technology (CBST) has an almost unbelievable opportunity available for local community college students. Applications are due October 28. They will be selecting 16 - 20 community college students in a broad range of science, medicine, and engineering fields to work in intern positions for two weeks during our winter break – January 4 through 15. Every pre-med student should apply! If interest is high enough, they hope to add a second program, which means another 20 spots for local students. A $600 stipend is provided. Biophotonics is the study of the interaction of light or radiant energy with biological material – thus it employs the information and techniques from many physical and biological sciences. They know that community college students are early in their studies, and they are going to select those who show desire and interest in learning about science and research, and are still exploring their fields of interest, not necessarily the most accomplished students. So there is no reason not to apply. All application materials – application form, resume, personal statement and letter of recommendation – are due October 28, 2009 at 11:59pm (Application submitted online). |
