So you have heard about all these summer programs that are 8-10 weeks long where you learn about medicine, do research, shadow doctors, learn about the MCAT, and even attend medical school classes. On top of it all, you receive a stipend of up to $5,000. Now the question is do you know how to apply for them? What you need to be successful? What do they look for in an applicant? Then you must attend the upcoming workshop put on by AMSA ARC. The workshop will consist of the following segments: - Faculty letter of recommendation (presented by Ken Kubo, Ph.D.); - How to write a personal statement (presented by Tom Wazick, Ph.D.); - Tips on being successful in your application; - Application timeline; - How to write a CV; - Presentation by ARC student Joe Gomes, who attended the SMDEP program at Columbia Medical School in Summer 2008. This is a workshop you should not miss. Since most of the summer program applications are due by February 1, 2009, you will have plenty of time to prepare during the winter break and secure your letters of recommendation. Note: This workshop will not be repeated until Fall 2009. |
