| Other Info | Michael Chapman, M.D. Professor Emeritus of Orthopedic Surgery, UC Davis Health System Dr. Chapman is one of the first graduates of ARC and has had a long distinguished career in being in the forefront of Orthopedic Surgery and advancing medicine. He is the founder and long-time director of the UC Davis Department of Orthopedic Surgery and is the creator of the sub-specialty of Orthopedic Trauma. He is also the founder of the American Trauma Society Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation and served as its founding president for many years. Dr. Chapman's major clinical interests are orthopedic trauma and trauma reconstruction. He focuses on post-traumatic reconstruction of bones, acute trauma and fractures, and treatment of chronic bone disease. A former U.S. Olympic Ski Team physician and an avid skier, Dr. Chapman has a long-held interest in prevention and treatment of sports injuries. He is listed in numerous Who's Who publications and The Best Doctors in America. Chapman's 165 publications include the four-volume Operative Orthopedics, regarded as a definitive source on Orthopedic Surgery. His extensive research focuses on joint biomechanics, bone graft substitutes, and clinical treatment of trauma. He has also been active for over 25 years as a member of the admission committee at UC Davis Medical School. |
