Dr. West treats children and adolescents with cancer and all types of blood disorders. Daniel West, who is listed in The Best Doctors in America, has expertise in treating bone tumors—notably Ewing’s sarcoma and bone cancer. His research centers on understanding the biology of Ewing's sarcoma and developing new treatments for this condition. Additional research interests include the pathophysiology and management of sickle cell anemia.

He is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric hematology-oncology. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Association of Pediatrics, the California Chapter of the American Association of Pediatrics, the Association of Pediatric Program Directors.

Dr. West, as Director of Pediatrics Residency Training Program, oversees the training of pediatrics physician residents at UC Davis Medical Center. He is also the co-director of medical student, where he oversees and mentors 25 medical students through their academic journey in medical school.
