| Other Info | Do you want to experience what is like to be a medical student? Do you want to sit in a real medical school class and experience the learning process? Can you imagine yourself there one day? Do you want to meet medical students from UC Davis? Then you must attend this all-day event at the UC Davis School of Medicine where you will sit in classes with medical students, attend lectures and small group discussions, including a lecture on doctoring from the school's dean. This is a once-a-semester experience that should not be missed. INFO This field trip will be much more than just a tour of the medical school. You will experience what it means to be a medical student and will get a picture of what medical school is like. Our day at the UC Davis School of Medicine will include sitting in on classes with medical students, talking to them, attending their small group discussions, touring the school, talk to faculty, meet with the Dean of Admission; all this after pairing up with medical students who will be your guides from start to finish. This is a great opportunity to see what medical school is like and talk to close to 200 medical students, some of whom attended community college. In fact, we will hosted by 3 former AMSA ARC officers who are now first-year students at the UC Davis School of Medicine. RULES OF CONDUCT We expect everyone to behave properly. You have been invited to medical students' classrooms and into their daily academic lives, so we expect you to show them gratitude for their generosity. During lectures, we expect you to be pay attention to the class, sit up straight, and refrain from sleeping and doing homework. Please don't act bored and draw unwanted attention. If you are unable to follow these rules, we ask you not to come. You will ruin the chances of us ever going back. Also, if you brake the rules while at the medical school, we will also ask you to leave the premises. The above policies are NOT open for discussion. DRESS CODE We expect you to dress appropriately to the occasion. You do not need to wear a suit, but we ask you to wear semi-formal, neat, presentable clothes. No T-shirts, jeans, or pants with holes in them. You will be guests at the medical school, and the way you dress will show how much you appreciate the hospitality of students and faculty there. Example: - Men: Slacks (no jeans), button-up shirt, dress shoes (no sandals). - Women: Slacks or skirt, shirt or blouse, and dress shoes (no sandals). ELIGIBILITY This opportunity is only open to any pre-med student who is interested to attend. This will be the only opportunity of its kind until Fall 2010. |
