Chapter dues for 2010-2011 have been set at $25. Your membership supports all club activities and enrichment opportunities; you receive free admission to many events, conferences, discounted events, and programs as part of the membership benefits package. Last year AMSA ARC members receive over $120 worth of materials and special program admission privileges. You will automatically receive discount codes for various events and programs when you sign up for AMSA ARC membership online.

Eligibility

Students enrolled at American River College or other Los Rios Community College District colleges, or any other college who are either current affiliate members of AMSA or in the process of applying to AMSA, and have paid current chapter dues will be considered active members of the AMSA ARC Pre-med Chapter.

Members of AMSA ARC will be accepted without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, disability, sex, sexual preference, age, creed, financial status, marital status, parental status, or veteran’s status. Furthermore, it is understood that members will not, at any time, engage in hazing.

Non-Los Rios students can also file for membership in our club. We are inclusive, and believe in building a community of committed pre-meds beyond the walls of ARC.

Privileges/Members Only Events

Since the membership dues offset the cost of the programming, certain events are open to paid members only. AMSA ARC membership is open to anyone, regardless of the attended school, or current grade level.

Active Status

Active status is determined by the individual member. At our meetings we host doctors, deans of admission, admission committee members, and experts in the field of medicine – it is up to you to attend their talks and ask them questions. You can make AMSA work for you by being involved in the organization and shaping its future.

National Membership Dues

When joining the AMSA ARC Pre-Med Chapter, whether on paper or online, you must simultaneously join AMSA National. All you have to do is pay the additional national membership dues: please visit the AMSA Member Center for Premedical Students or call 1-800-767-2266 and choose the pre-med membership option. The membership gives one many benefits; you can view them on this page.

Fees

National AMSA membership costs $75 for up to 5 years. Please see your local chapter officers for local AMSA membership eligibility. To join AMSA National, please visit the AMSA Member Center for Premedical Students or call 1-800-767-2266 and choose the pre-med membership option.

If you are unable to meet the local chapter dues, you can appeal to the VP of Finance and provide documentation from the Business Office, Financial Aid Office, EOPS, or Care Office. You can pay the dues with providing minimal services to the organization in conjunction with the appeal. Every effort will be made for every eligible and willing individual to become a member of AMSA ARC (this policy covers local dues only and does not apply to the AMSA National membership).
